Auction Car of the Week: Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, the 991.1-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS was a radical departure for the Rennsport 911. It set a new benchmark for track-focused sports cars, blurring the lines between the racetrack and the road.

Easily identified by its extroverted aero upgrades, 911 Turbo-inspired wide arches, magnesium roof and towering rear wing, the GT3 RS is unmistakably dedicated to driving performance.

Beneath its aggressive exterior lurks a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine, which revs to 8,800rpm and delivers 500hp to the rear wheels via Porsche’s ultra-responsive PDK transmission (controversially, there was no manual option).

The RS was further enhanced by rear-axle steering, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) and an innovative ‘paddle neutral’ feature. A Nurburgring lap time of 7min 20sec confirmed its track-day prowess.

A tangerine dream

This particular modern classic is finished in eye-popping Lava Orange, with a black Alcantara interior. Originally delivered to Dubai in 2016, then imported to the UK a year later, it has covered fewer than 10,000 miles since new.

Full-body Paint Protection Film (PPF), applied since early ownership, has preserved the car’s bodywork. Iconic Auctioneers notes only a minor mark on the bonnet’s film surface.

The interior also shows minimal wear. It boasts Porsche 918-style bucket seats, plenty of carbon fibre trim and a Lava Orange 12 o’clock marker on the steering wheel. The signature RS fabric door straps are finished in body colour, too.

Under the virtual hammer

Specification highlights comprise extended black leather trim with grey stitching, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), a practical front axle-lift kit and the track-ready Sport Chrono Package Plus.

And for those moments when you aren’t chasing lap times, luxury touches include a Bose audio system, LED headlights featuring the adaptive Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), illuminated door sills and an illuminated gear lever surround.

Offered by Iconic Auctioneers in its latest online auction, this well-specified and low-mileage GT3 RS is a chance to own one of Porsche’s finest modern sports cars. However, you will need to be quick – the bidding closes on 12 June.
