Car & Classic launches retro car insurance

Car & Classic, the online retro car marketplace, has launched its own car insurance offering, allowing classic car enthusiasts to get an indicative quote in seconds.

Simply by entering a vehicle registration number, enthusiasts can instantly see an indicative price for a 12-month car insurance policy.

They can then spend more time personalising the quote to see their actual premium – but the tool is a great way of quickly comparing the cost to insure classics as they browse.

Car & Classic’s new car insurance offer is an in-house product, fully underwritten by the online classic car marketplace.

Classic car insurance ‘stuck in the past’

It is a logical next step in Car & Classic’s 20-year history, said CEO Tom Wood. “When we spoke to our users, one frustration came through loud and clear: insuring their pride and joy still felt stuck in the past, with phone-only quotes and outdated buying journeys.

“That’s why we set out to bring Car & Classic’s technology, innovation and data to a traditionally offline category, and create an insurance experience built for modern enthusiasts.”

Wood claims Car & Classic Insurance is “the UK’s first fully online quote-and-buy classic car insurance… [and] we’re already seeing strong early adoption”.

The new classic car insurance platform specialises in vehicles aged 20 years or older. Drivers aged 30 and older are covered for cars built after 1990, with drivers aged 25 and over covered on cars built before 1990.

Car & Classic has also signed Top Gear star Chris Harris as brand ambassador. He has produced a video addressing common questions from classic car owners.
