One of the rarest production Porsche 911s is set to cross the auction block in Birmingham next month.
Only 14 examples of the 993-generation 911 Turbo were made in Cabriolet guise – and only five cars were right-hand drive.
This is one of those five, originally custom-built by Porsche’s Exclusiv Manufaktur department in Stuttgart.
It will be up for grabs at the forthcoming Iconic Auctioneers NEC Classic Motor Show sale – and is likely to attract plenty of attention from Porsche fans.
For VIP customers only

Following the end of G-model 911 production in 1989, Porsche would never offer an air-cooled Turbo Cabriolet again. Not officially, at least…
However, the company regularly allowed VIP customers with sufficiently large budgets to request a custom creation. Enter Fritz Haberl and his Munich-based MAHAG Porsche chain of car dealerships.
Haberl had seen the new 993 Cabriolet at the 1994 Geneva Motor Show. He agreed a deal with Porsche to create 10 993-generation Turbo Cabriolets, but eventually found 14 interested enthusiasts around the world.
Nine of the cars were made in left-hand drive, with the remaining five (including the one up for auction) aimed at right-hand drive markets such as the UK.
A truly bespoke creation

With the 993-generation 911 Turbo still in development, Porsche used the single-turbocharged 3.6-litre flat-six engine found in the previous 964 model.
This delivered a hefty 360hp, and was combined with a Getrag five-speed manual transmission. Unlike a ‘standard’ 993 Turbo, which had four-wheel drive, all of the engine’s power was deployed to the back axle.
The 10th car made, this auction example has bespoke Amaranth Violet paintwork covering its custom bodywork. A combination of Marble Grey and black leather was chosen for the interior, while options included air conditioning, sports suspension and a CD player.
Ready to set a record

Delivered new to its commissioning owner in Hong Kong, the Turbo Cabriolet has accumulated just 14,000km (equivalent to 8,700 miles) since 1995.
It comes complete with the original owner’s manuals and maintenance records, and has been serviced by a Porsche main dealership since it arrived in the UK.
Such incredible rarity, along with being part of the final air-cooled Porsche 911 Turbo story, results in a pre-sale estimate of between £700,000 and £800,000. That said, previous examples of the 993 Turbo Cabriolet have achieved in excess of £1 million when they crossed the block.
The Iconic Auctioneers NEC Classic Motor Show sale takes place on Saturday 8 November 2025. This special Porsche will be one of the star cars up for sale.
