Official Apple CarPlay kit offered for L322 Range Rover

Owners of selected third-generation Range Rovers can now upgrade their in-car media system with enhanced smartphone connectivity.

Land Rover Classic Works has developed a kit to incorporate wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into examples of the luxury SUV built between 2010 and 2012.

This means ‘L322’ Range Rovers made in the latter part of the car’s production life – i.e. those following the 2010 model-year facelift.

The Land Rover Classic upgrade is designed to improve functionality, plus retain all the features of the original infotainment system.

Original looks, modern tech

To ensure the enhanced infotainment setup looks period-correct, Land Rover Classic engineers have retained the L322’s factory-fit touchscreen display.

A USB cable is required for the initial setup of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. However, the system can connect wirelessly to mobile devices after it has been configured.

Land Rover Classic has ensured the new system works with all audio systems fitted to the L322 Range Rover. This includes the upgraded Harman Kardon Logic 7 setup. It means streaming music or listening to podcasts should be possible with excellent sound quality.

Dominic Elms, managing director of Land Rover Classic, said: “Like all of our work at Classic Works, this infotainment upgrade has been designed to integrate with the vehicle’s original design and remain true to the OEM specification, while unlocking newer technology.

“That way, our clients and enthusiasts can continue to use their third‑generation Range Rovers every day, with the knowledge our team of experts have paid close attention to the details and authenticity of the original specification.”

Having been developed by Land Rover Classic, the upgraded tech is also backed by a two-year Jaguar Land Rover aftermarket parts and accessories warranty.
